We are searching for our next Butler.

We are rounding out our existing team of 2 regular Butlers, cos 3 is the magic number!

Our new Butler will be asked to start at a maximum of 2 shifts per week, with scope to increase as our Naarm location grows, so this is a currently a smaller gig with scope for growth.

COULD IT BE YOU?

Does your penchant for tidiness cause friction in your domestic relationships, because no one’s standards are as high as yours?

Does home organisation, sanitisation protocol, and folding 10/10 perfect towels get ya on the horn?

Do you get a deep sense of satisfaction from checking every box on the list?

If some or all of this applies to you, you could very well be our next Butler.

Butlers keep it all ticking along at HH. They are responsible for tending to the House between each booking and provide an essential link between the House and her Mother. They ensure that every guest enters the space to a blank canvas and provide essential care, tending, and support to the House herself. They also get daily opportunities to try to piece together WTF happened last night, based only on the end result. Cheap thrills on tap!

Core aspects of the role include:

  • Cleaning and reset of the House after each guest booking
  • Managing laundry and waste
  • Setting up the House for guests according to their requirements
  • Providing other site-specific support as negotiated
  • Energetic tending and morale-building of the House
  • Identifying issues requiring additional attention or maintenance
  • A small amount of team and guest communication

Core skills, qualities & experience:

  • Experience delivering cleaning services, especially where sanitisation and disinfection protocols are used
  • Organised, efficient and able to decision-make and problem-solve on the go
  • Clear and timely communication
  • Reliable and capable of managing your own schedule and commitments
  • Systems-orientation
  • Experience with, or keen interest in learning, the Notion platform we use to manage our work
  • Hawk-eye attention to detail (e.g. you can spot a lubey hand print at 50 paces at dusk)

The work of the Butlers:

  • is generally conducted in short 1-2 hour shifts between 10am and 4pm.
  • can be time-pressured and requires the ability to make clear-headed decisions, prioritise dynamically and anticipate short-term impacts under time constraints.
  • is scheduled up to 6 months in advance, and subject to change as bookings and availabilities shift and change.
  • is aligned to the Cleaning Services Award 2020 (trainees start at level 2 and are moved to level 3 after a probationary period).
  • is physical work, and may not be suitable for all bodies/abilities.
  • is conducted in Coburg.
  • treasured AF.

We have found that Butler work is best suited to folks who:

  • have other sources of income on which they can depend (the availability of work is casual and can be sporadic),
  • are comfortable offering regular availability (e.g. set days of the week), with occasional flexibility to pick up other available shifts,
  • are comfortable working in shorter bursts and open to working multiple shifts in a single day, and
  • are comfortable working alone (with phone and text access to peers and supervision, but no one else on-site).
